Copper Coloured Mountain

ཟངས་མདོག་དཔལ་རི། – The glorious copper-coloured mountain – A prayer to be reborn in the pure realm of Guru Rinpoche:

Padmasambhava is inseparable from primordial nature.
His Buddha-field, the copper coloured mountain, is the purity of personal experience.
May everyone be born in this original pure land,
The uncontrived natural state of the indivisible appearance and awareness.

Scribed in Tibetan Umed script, with a snow capped mountain embossed with copper leaf, above which is the seed syllable ཧཱུྂ༔ of Padmasambhava emblazoned on celestial rainbow clouds. With the auspicious sun and moon and water-falls of pure nourishing plenty. The base of the copper mountain is hugged by swirling of cooling mist, which paints a picture of a pure land.

Originally created as a centre piece for a solo exhibition with Amankora in Thimbu and Paro, this artwork was licensed to featured on The Copper-Colored Mountain book – Shambhala Publications.
