Unshakeable Wellbeing
An early piece from Tashi’s Black on Black series of 2009 – 12, playfully folds the Tibetan words yungdrung into its namesake of a svasti symbol.
The literal translation of གཡུང་དྲུང་ is “rest unshakeably” or “unchanging wellbeing”. A much venerated symbol of good luck dating back thousands of years for Indian, Tibetan and Far Eastern cultures.
A large graffiti-tag like signature spans the bottom portion of the piece, which with two seals of Tashi originating from an even earlier artwork; repurposed to create the swasti arrangement.
At the end of 2025 a hand painted cloud design was applied to a thick surrounding mount, as to enrich and present a more proportionate harmony to this piece, which for a new owner is advantageous for framing.

The subtle reflective qualities of the black layering changes appearance in different light conditions. It is therefore impossible to capture the range of qualities in one photograph, with the appearance of this image different when compared to another photograph of the same piece.
