Suitable for beginners to advanced Tibetan calligraphers, this retreat is for those who wish to revise, elevate and refine their writing ability away from complacency.
Offering a rare opportunity to study and practice in the beautiful and peacefully conducive atmosphere of Le Grand Banc – An extraordinary secluded hilltop private hamlet, surrounded by the wild nature of the Luberon hills in Provence, France. This place holds great legacy, where famous artists were inspired and high society once escaped.
It has been several years since Tashi has instructed during a retreat situation – celebrated for providing an undistracted, fully immersed joyful experience, not just about the technicalities of writing, but instruction founded and imbued with Buddha Dharma.
What to expect – To synchronise as influential calligraphers – in a designated classroom, the course moves swiftly through all other super and subscribed syllables, as well as punctuations of the Uchen script. Focus will be on the shared mastery of penmanship and brush work, with mantra and manuscript composition explained with all typical traditional disciplines applied.
Each day starts with meditation, as to calm and focus the mind – primed to engage with two deep sessions of calligraphy instruction and practice throughout the day.
There is an in-house chef to provide predominantly vegetarian meals, with dinner marking a relaxed conclusion of the day, to heartily bond with fellow calligraphers.
