    Winter Solstice Optimism

With the equinox turning point on the day of the Winter Solstice, gives hope and optimism – that from this point onwards, days will (very slowly at first) get longer and brighter.

The words ‘Winter Solstice’ in Tibetan are དགུན་ཉི་ལྡོག scribed here in a rather thick white ink on a black inked background suggesting a an overcast winters day. Finished with a disc of ‘moon gold’ to illuminate a cooler winters sun, the narative being the light of hope shining in the dark of ignorance.

This artwork was completed on the Winter Solstice 2023, with sun-bust mount added Winter Solstice 2025.
