The Source – Egret

The source, origin or spring, in the elemental natural resources translation འབྱུང་ཁུངས།

For this more peaceful art piece, the client especially specified the inclusion of an Egret bird, with reference to a Chan poem ’Song of the Precious Mirror of Samadhi’ –

“A sliver bowl filled with snow: heron hidden in the moon.”

Which inspired me to paint the egret, seated on the last character of the calligraphy, in a delicate wash of shimmering silver, ghostly like and mysterious.

A large round eternal knot seal is placed replicating a morning sun.
