The Four Immeasurable States
Seated on individual lotus flowers and depicted in a blue Drutsa script style are the four essential states: Love, Compassion, Joy and Equanimity. Below these four lotus flowers is written a commentary in an early round tailed Drutsa script from 14th century Tibet, that translate as:
According to the Mahayana by meditation that focuses on measureless beings there are four states of mind that set in motion measureless punya (auspicious or positive effects or states), namely: measureless love, measureless compassion, measureless joy and measureless equanimity.
Issued with this artwork is a Certificate of Authentication with description, which serves as provenance, as well as a recipe of value for insurance purposes.
The provenance of this particular art piece as first featuring at an international calligraphy exhibition at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in Moscow 2012 – 2016. The piece was then exhibited from 2016 at a solo exhibition, Amankora, Thimphu, Bhutan, returning to the U.K. in 2019.
