Six Transcendent Perfections
Addressing the spiritual and artistic levels of concepts and accomplishments. This calligraphy artwork advises Two fundamental Accumulations: ‘Merit & Wisdom’ which are amassed with the observance and practice of the Six Transcendent Perfections known as the ‘Six Paramitas’.
This calligraphy is of these six perfections scribed in Tibetan *petsug script and gilded in 23.6 gold leaf.
These have been organised as if dancing and ascending from bottom upwards:
1. Generosity
2. Discipline
3. Patience
4. Diligence
5. Meditative Concentration
6. Wisdom
The first five paramitas correspond to the accumulation of merit and the sixth to the accumulation of wisdom itself.
*petsug is a script style originating in East Tibet. Suited for writing manuscripts because of its short squat character allowing more lines of text to accommodate less pages of paper.
At the honoured invitation of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, This calligraphy and four other pieces were especially created and submitted for the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial Tenth Edition on ‘Elevation’.
