Summer Solstice Sun

This artwork was especially created during the longest days of the summer Solstice.

The piece requires lengthy preparation – After technically drawing the sphere and the sun’s rays, the area of the sun is burnished with a smooth agate stone to achieve a polished surface for a more reflective gold finish. The sun’s flares are embossed with fine line-work, then the gold size is added to which gold leaf adheres.

The background is infilled with natural earth red pigment to a super-matt finish, contrasting with the gold’s bright lustre.

Issued with this artwork is a Certificate of Authentication with description, which serves as provenance, as well as a receipt of value for insurance purposes.
