    Five Buddha Family Syllables

    Five Buddha Family Syllables

Composed in the classical Uchen script are five seed syllables of the the five Buddha families. These are arranged here in a specific line of order – directly corresponding to their cardinal positioning within their maṇḍala.

As oṃ of Vairocana resides in the centre of a maṇḍala, oṃ is placed in the middle of this line of syllables. To the left is hūṃ of Akṣobhya, following clockwise around the cardinal points, is traṃ of Ratnasambhava is placed to the left of hūṃ, with hrīḥ of Amitābha placed the right of oṃ and āḥ of Amoghasiddhi placed to the very far right.

The small footnote scribed in the Umé class of writing translates as The seed syllables of the Five Buddha Families oṃ, hūṃ, traṃ, hrīḥ, āḥ.
