SUMMARY:A week of Yoga\, Meditation and Creativity in Provence 2025
DESCRIPTION:This autumn retreat offers a holistic experience in both body and mind\, while cultivating heightened awareness through yoga\, meditation and creativity. Held at the inspirational Le Grand Banc – an extraordinary private hamlet\, high among the wild Luberon hills of Provence. \n \nThe retreat is lead by Tashi Dawa and Tashi Mannox – both internationally celebrated for their down-to-earth\, humorous teaching expertise\, making a complementary team\, which informs the importance in taming both body and mind inseparably. \n  \n\n \n\n\nWhat to expect…\n \nEach morning starts with Hatha yoga with Tashi Dawa followed by meditation instruction and practice with Tashi Mannox. \nA sumptuous vegetarian brunch is then provided\, followed with time to just rest and enjoy the amazing surroundings. \nUnder the skilful guidance of Dharma artist Tashi Mannox\, the afternoon session welcomes participants to join for a daily progression of large ink brushed exercises. These include learning how to create the iconic om syllable\, while unlocking its ancient meaning to deepen meditation. This is followed by a relaxing yoga session with Tashi Dawa. \nEach day concludes with a vegetarian buffet dinner with the pleasure of good company. \n\n\n \nTashi Dawa – who started teaching yoga in her early 20’s\, as a qualified Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher provides nearly two decades of professional experience. Originating from Australian Buddhist parents\, she is best known for her immersive retreats across Europe\, her popular training and residential mentorships. More about Tashi Dawa \n \nTashi Mannox – a meditation practitioner since the age of 11\, he trained as a monk for 17 years in the many disciplines within the Tibetan Buddhist traditions\, during which he completed a four year retreat. This qualified him as Lama and experienced meditation instructor\, founding his professional output as a Dharma artist. Read his full biography \n  \n \n• Tashi Dawa will be available for private yoga sessions. \n• Tashi Mannox will take private calligraphy art commissions on consultation during the retreat. \n \n\n \n\n  \nLe Grand Banc consists of several individual houses and rooms\, these offer an eclectic range of beautiful accommodation\, from ensuite double apartments\, to single or shared rooms. These differ in cost from £1400 GBP – all inclusive. \nFly to: Marseille or Avignon airport \nTrain to: Avignon or Manosque \nAirport Transfers:Group transfers are available on demand from Marseille. \n  \n  \n \n  \nTestimonial – \n“There is Tashi.  And there is Tashi.  Two distinct individuals who combine to form an irresistible invitation to savour the very essence of yoga and meditation.  Almost surreptitiously\, you are drawn into their magical world of calm\, supple clarity and focus as you embrace the full gamut of deeply nourishing yoga coupled with delightfully uplifting meditation.  No earnest invocation to self-improvement\, often served up with an excess of worthiness\, but a freeing\, joyous dip into an uplifting of the soul which dances in the Provence breeze. I came away with an energy and sense of ease not previously felt\, despite considering myself one who had long trod the path of yoga and meditation. It is easy to be seduced by the charisma of an expert who can infuse you with undiscovered potential\, but when you find it is is still there after you have said your goodbyes\, you know a very tangible alchemy has taken place. And as proof\, you also get to express your freshly minted wisdom on paper – for keeps!” – Maggie Saunders\, October retreat 2024.  \n

The book will be available for purchase and signing during the workshop. \nAt the same place and time is an exhibition of an extraordinary *Bardo series of artworks by Drugu Choegyal Rinpoché\, offering a rich\, all-encompassing introduction to the Tibetan Buddhist view of death and rebirth through figurative and profound scriptural references\, see image below.  \nThe Bardo series exhibition officially opens at 6 pm on Friday 9th – all welcome. \nThe Tibetan calligraphy workshop runs from 9 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday 10th and from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday 11th. \nThis course is suitable for beginners as well as those more practiced. \nParticipants should bring an A3 size pad of paper and writing implements: pencil\, sharpener\, eraser and ruler. Acrylic with mineral colours on cotton:\nAs explained – \nThe Buddha is teaching the Prajñāpāramitā at Vulture Peak in Ragjir\, beside him are the lay person Avalokiteśvara and the monk Shariputra. \nThe monk and the layperson are debating emptiness and interdependence\, emptiness and existence\, and how the two exist together interdependently. \nInstructions on how to meditate on emptiness are given\, along with clarifications about the emptiness of the mind\, the creating mind and the nature of mind. Realising this\, the mind is liberated from fear of death. \nTranslation of the contents –  \nThe Buddha said that suchness is beyond description through words or speech. Its nature is like space\, totally free from the dualistic mind and the intellect’s movements. This supreme and amazing teaching was given by him after attaining enlightenment. Considering the natural state of mind\, indivisible and uncontrived\, he said: \nConsciousness is empty. \nEmptiness is consciousness. \nEmptiness is none other than consciousness. \nConsciousness is none other than emptiness. \nThis renown Prajñāpāramitā quote is reproduced on the painting in blue Uchen calligraphy. \nIn the collected works of Zhechen Gyaltsab Pema Gyurme\, (Vol. 9\, p. 304) we find; \nWhile resting composed\, in the general manner meditate on emptiness like space. During post meditation\, practice the two accumulations in union\, embracing them with the sense of their being like an illusion. Thus\, through the strength of the obscurations’ gradual elimination\, the nature of mind will be seen as empty\, in the equality of the absence of elaboration. \nThe Condensed Prajñaparamita Sutra says: \nPeople say in words\, “see the sky.” \nExamine in what way the sky is seen. \nThe Tathagata taught that phenomena also are to be seen like that. \nA different example of that seeing cannot be given. \n \n\n*bardo བར་དུ translates as ‘between stage (the period between death and rebirth)’
